UFO Footage Released by the Government!

Something different, for those tired of all the news about the Wuhan Flu.  The Pentagon has released official footage of things still unidentified.  By definition, UFOs are "Unidentified Flying Objects", which does not mean, as some assume, "alien craft".  Whatever they are, the government admits they don't know, which is interesting.

Pentagon releases ‘UFO’ videos taken by US Navy pilots

Washington (AFP) – The Pentagon has officially released three videos taken by US Navy pilots showing mid-air encounters with what appear to be UFOs.
The grainy black and white footage had previously been leaked and the Navy had acknowledged they were Navy videos.
The Department of Defense said Monday it was “releasing the videos in order to clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there is more to the videos.”
“The aerial phenomena observed in the videos remain characterized as ‘unidentified,'” the Pentagon statement said.
One of videos was shot in November 2004 and the other two in January 2015.
In one, the weapons sensor operator appears to lose lock on a rapidly moving oblong object which seconds later suddenly accelerates away to the left and out of view.
In another video tracking an object above the clouds, one pilot wonders if it is a drone.
“There’s a whole fleet of them. Look on the ASA,” the other says.
“My gosh, they’re all going against the wind! The wind’s 120 knots out of the west!” he said.
“Look at that thing,” the first says as the object starts rotating.
The videos had previously been released by the New York Times and the To The Stars Academy of Arts and Science, a group co-founded by Blink-182 guitarist Tom DeLonge.
After a thorough review, the Pentagon said it determined that “the authorized release of these unclassified videos does not reveal any sensitive capabilities or systems, and does not impinge on any subsequent investigations of military air space incursions by unidentified aerial phenomena.”
Retired US Navy pilot David Fravor who saw one of the “UFOs” in 2004 told CNN the object moved erratically.
“As I got close to it … it rapidly accelerated to the south, and disappeared in less than two seconds,” Fravor told CNN in 2017.
“This was extremely abrupt, like a ping pong ball, bouncing off a wall. It would hit and go the other way.”
Former Nevada senator Harry Reid, whose state hosts the top secret Area 51 Air Force facility, welcomed release of the videos.
“I’m glad the Pentagon is finally releasing this footage, but it only scratches the surface of research and materials available,” he tweeted.
“The U.S. needs to take a serious, scientific look at this and any potential national security implications. The American people deserve to be informed.”
In December 2017, the Pentagon acknowledged funding a secret multi-million dollar program to investigate sightings of UFOs, although it said it had ended in 2012.
The three video clips — “FLIR,” “GOFAST” and “GIMBAL” are available to download on the Naval Air Systems Command website.

Wuhan LabUnderInvestigation By US Government

Now this is interesting.  Note the information on our tax dollars, too.

Exclusive — Federal Health Officials Investigating Wuhan Lab Suspected of Leaking Coronavirus, Taxpayer Grants to Lab

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has informed a company that used a taxpayer grant to provide U.S. tax dollars to the Wuhan lab in China–from which some authorities believe the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic emanated–that the Wuhan lab is formally being investigated by U.S. officials.
A letter from Dr. Michael Lauer, the NIH’s deputy director for extramural research, to Kevin Olival of EcoHealth Alliance and Naomi Schrag of Columbia University, obtained exclusively by Breitbart News, informs them the matter is under investigation.
“EcoHealth Alliance, Inc. is the recipient, as grantee, of an NIH grant entitled ‘Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergency,’” Lauer wrote in the letter, dated April 19. “It is our understanding that one of the sub-recipients of the grant funds is the Wuhan Institute of Virology (‘WIV’). It is our understanding that WIV studies the interaction between corona viruses and bats. The scientific community believes that the coronavirus causing COVID-19 jumped from bats to humans likely in Wuhan where the COVID-19 pandemic began. There are now allegations that the current crisis was precipitated by the release from WIV of the coronavirus responsible for COVID-19. Given these concerns, we are pursuing suspension of WIV from participation in Federal programs.”
The letter continues in the next paragraph by further explaining the investigation.
“While we review these allegations during the period of suspension, you are instructed to cease providing any funds from the above noted grant to the WIV,” Lauer continues. “This temporary action is authorized by 45 C.F.R. § 75.371 (d) (‘Initiate suspension or debarment proceedings as authorized under 2 C.F.R. part 180’). The incorporated OMB provision provides that the federal funding agency, through suspension, immediately and temporarily exclude from Federal programs persons who are not presently responsible where ‘immediate action is necessary to protect the public interest.’ 2 C.F.R. § 180.700 (c).”
In the next paragraph, the NIH official confirms this is under investigation formally. “It is in the public interest that NIH ensure that a sub-recipient has taken all appropriate precautions to prevent the release of pathogens that it is studying,” Lauer wrote. “This suspension of the sub-recipient does not affect the remainder of your grant assuming that no grant funds are provided to WIV following receipt of this email during the period of suspension.”
This letter has not been publicly revealed until his report here in Breitbart News. An NIH spokesman told Breitbart News about this letter: “NIH does not discuss details of the decision making process regarding specific grant awards.”
The NIH official did note that the $3.7 million grant in question has been spread over multiple installments for six years, at a wide range of sites worldwide including in China, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Myanmar. This grant in particular, the NIH official said, is a multi-site, multi-country grant to study what allows coronaviruses to evolve and infect humans–what is known as a “spillover event.”
The White House has not immediately replied to a request for comment about this NIH probe of the Wuhan lab, but at Monday’s White House press briefing in the Rose Garden President Trump–in response to a broader question from Breitbart News about China–promised “investigation” into China’s role in the spread of the pandemic soon.
There have been several reports in recent weeks about the prevailing wisdom among U.S. intelligence officials being that the virus emanated from the Wuhan virology lab rather than from a Chinese wet market, the original claim when the pandemic first broke out.
Fox News’s Bret Baier reported earlier in April, for instance:
There is increasing confidence that the COVID-19 outbreak likely originated in a Wuhan laboratory, though not as a bioweapon but as part of China’s attempt to demonstrate that its efforts to identify and combat viruses are equal to or greater than the capabilities of the United States, multiple sources who have been briefed on the details of early actions by China’s government and seen relevant materials tell Fox News. This may be the “costliest government cover-up of all time,” one of the sources said. The sources believe the initial transmission of the virus – a naturally occurring strain that was being studied there – was bat-to-human and that “patient zero” worked at the laboratory, then went into the population in Wuhan. The ‘increasing confidence’ comes from classified and open-source documents and evidence, the sources said. Fox News has requested to see the evidence directly. Sources emphasized — as is often the case with intelligence — that it’s not definitive and should not be characterized as such. Some inside the administration and the intelligence and epidemiological communities are more skeptical, and the investigation is continuing. What all of the sources agree about is the extensive cover-up of data and information about COVID-19 orchestrated by the Chinese government.
The U.K. Daily Mail, too, back in early April, revealed the existence of the U.S. taxpayer funds that found their way to the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
The Chinese laboratory at the center of scrutiny over a potential coronavirus leak has been using U.S. government money to carry out research on bats from the caves which scientists believe are the original source of the deadly outbreak,” the Daily Mail’s Frances Mulraney and Glenn Owen wrote. “The Wuhan Institute of Virology undertook coronavirus experiments on mammals captured more than 1,000 miles away in Yunnan which were funded by a $3.7 million grant from the US government. Sequencing of the COVID-19 genome has traced it back to bats found in Yunnan caves but it was first thought to have transferred to humans at an animal market in Wuhan. The revelation that the Wuhan Institute was experimenting on bats from the area already known to be the source of COVID-19 – and doing so with American money – has sparked further fears that the lab, and not the market, is the original outbreak source.
For that story in the Daily Mail, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) weighed in saying that he was appalled that U.S. taxpayer dollars went to such a thing as this. Gaetz said:
I’m disgusted to learn that for years the US government has been funding dangerous and cruel animal experiments at the Wuhan Institute, which may have contributed to the global spread of coronavirus, and research at other labs in China that have virtually no oversight from US authorities.
The grant that the Daily Mail story uncovered is a $3.7 million grant issued to EcoHealth Alliance Inc. via HHS, specifically from the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has gained enormous fame during the coronavirus crisis at President Donald Trump’s side, has been the director of NIAID since 1984. As this letter from Dr. Lauer at NIH as well as a piece in Snopes revealed, not all of the $3.7 million grant—which began in 2014 during former President Barack Obama’s administration and continued until 2019 during President Trump’s administration—went to the Wuhan lab but some of EcoHealth’s grant did end up in the hands of researchers digging into bat coronaviruses in Wuhan, China.

Let's see if we get some real answers.  I'd bet good money this came from that lab, not the markets.

Still Think Dems/Leftists Care About The Most Vulnerable?

If you do, think again:

California Relaxed Directive Requiring Nursing Homes to Take Coronavirus Patients

The State of California relaxed a directive that required nursing homes to accept coronavirus patients — a policy that, critics say, led to unnecessary risks, if not infections, in New York and New Jersey, which have similar directives.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has been criticized over the past week — thanks largely to conservative radio host Mark Levin and to the New York Post, and to reporting in their wake by the New York Times — for New York State’s directive.
The New York directive read, in part (original emphasis): “No resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to the NH [nursing home] solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19. NHs are prohibited from requiring a hospitalized resident who is determined medically stable to be tested for COVID-19 prior to admission or readmission.”
Nursing homes account for a disproportionate share of coronavirus deaths in New York and other states — a fact that partly reflects the vulnerability of the elderly to the illness, but which, critics say, may also be a result of the nursing home policy.
Cuomo has argued that the nursing homes had a duty to transfer patients to other facilities or to warn the state department of health if they could not care for coronavirus patients. On Monday, he suggested that nursing homes had been reluctant to lose the money associated with admitting patients with coronavirus. Asked whether coronavirus patients could have been transferred to the USNS Comfort instead, Cuomo claims that federal policy prevented nursing homes from doing so.
The New York Times reported last week that California, New York, and New Jersey had similar policies, while Connecticut and Massachusetts adopted a different approach by designating certain nursing home facilities for coronavirus-only patients.
The Los Angeles Times reported April 1: “California regulators have told skilled nursing facility operators that they must accept patients even if they have the disease,” with critics of the policy calling it “akin to premeditated murder.”
But National Public Radio reported last week that California relaxed its policy after protests were heeded (original emphasis):
New York and New Jersey both have ordered nursing homes to admit patients regardless of their COVID-19 status. California had a similar directive. And then suddenly, as of March 30, it didn’t. After a couple of days of outcry from the medical community, the state softened its instruction.
It now says that a nursing home “can be expected” to receive residents who test positive for the virus if it is able to follow the infection control guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Critics are still upset with California’s policy, calling it “a recipe for disaster,” but it does seem to have been softened.
The original California directive, dated March 30, stated: “SNFs [skilled nursing facilities] shall not refuse to admit or readmit a resident based on their status as a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 case.”
The most recent version, dated April 24, states: “SNFs can be expected to accept a resident diagnosed with COVID-19 and who is still requiring transmission-based precautions for COVID-19 as long as the facility can follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) infection prevention and control recommendations for the care of COVID-19 patients, including adequate supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE).”
The reason given for the California directive, as elsewhere, is that state officials were concerned about running out of capacity in hospitals. However, both Southern California and the New York/New Jersey metro regions had federal assistance in expanding hospital beds — both in the form of U.S. Navy hospital ships and U.S. Army/National Guard field hospitals.

These are the same people telling us that it's all about protecting those most vulnerable to this virus, which is proven to be a lie.  Seems like it's about eliminating as many elderly people as possible, to me.

Public School Teacher Screams That She Hopes Students Die

This woman is teaching students.  This is the system into which people are placing their kids, for "education".

WATCH: Teacher Lashes Out at Students Playing Football: ‘I Hope You Both Die a Long, Painful Death!’

A New Jersey high school teacher is under investigation for allegedly yelling that she hopes kids she saw playing football in a city park would die “a long painful death” from the coronavirus, for violating stay-at-home orders.
The teacher, Nicole Griggs, a math instructor at Steinert High School, was outed on social media in a video where she is seen yelling over a chain-link fence at the kids, according to the Trentonian newspaper.
“I hope both of you get the coronavirus. I hope you both die a long, painful death,” she screeches after claiming she was only trying to “save “their lives.
Griggs was reportedly incensed that the kids were playing football in a local park, and she stopped to scream at them for violating the state’s draconian social distancing orders.
After the media picked up on the social media video, Hamilton Township School District Superintendent Scott Rocco told the paper that the district is aware of the footage and is looking into the teacher’s actions.”We will address the issue immediately,” he said.
The district’s teacher’s union refused to comment on the incident.
A more extended clip of the video shows Griggs screaming, “Park’s closed! The whole area. Get it through your thick head. You are the reason we are in this situation. You are the problem, not the solution.”

Tell me again how we "need" public schools?  Note, too, that the teachers' union isn't commenting or condemning her actions.  Who are they going to show this to?  The world!!  Share, discuss, make people aware!!  If you have kids, consider home schooling.  Real home schooling, not distance learning through the public school system.

Americans For Freedom!!

In the face of a push toward tyranny, Americans are standing up, stating they will not have it, and demanding that our rights be respected.  This is a beautiful thing!

‘MAGA May Day’ Freedom Rallies Planned Across America to Protest Lockdowns

“MAGA May Day” freedom rallies are slated to pop up across America Friday, May 1, aimed to send a message to “local and state government tyrants” that it is time to safely and responsibly reopen the country.
The “drive-in” rallies for freedom encourage participants to head to their state capitol or local government building to protest the nationwide lockdowns and demand independence from China, not allowing the country to “control trade, supply chains, or anything else that affects the daily life, health, happiness of American citizens.”
A schedule shows events slated to pop up in Honolulu, Hawaii; Phoenix, Arizona; Northampton, Massachusetts; Los Angeles, California; Huntington Beach, California; San Diego, California; San Francisco, California; Ventura, California; Louisville, Kentucky; Salem, Oregon; Chicago, Illinois; Springfield, Illinois; Atlanta, Georgia; Morehead City, North Carolina; Smithfield, North Carolina; Brookfield, Wisconsin; Carson City, Nevada; Boise, Idaho; and Limerick, Pennsylvania.
“It shouldn’t need to be said that the US Constitution will not be infringed upon, but it is under attack by local and state government tyrants across the country,” the event’s page reads:
In some states, many elected officials have taken this opportunity to infringe upon many basic rights of its citizens. Some with restrictions on what can be purchased. Others with an outright assault on the rights of citizens within their states through legislation passed during the shutdown. Our First and Second Amendment rights are what protect the rest and WE THE PEOPLE will not sit idly by and allow the US constitution to be trampled by a government or a social media platforms. The Founding Fathers didn’t include a “in case of Virus” clause in the Constitution that justified throwing our inalienable rights away by elected officials or bureaucrats. Freedom of speech and the right to peacefully assemble are our God given rights and are not to be erased or paused.
Organizers also stress that they are “NOT anti-quarantine” and preemptively debunked the emerging leftist narrative that anti-lockdown protesters believe the virus is a “hoax.”
“This virus is not a hoax. It is very real and we must protect the most vulnerable…health care workers, the elderly, those who are immuno-compromised, and others,” organizers said.
“However, America cannot destroy the lives and dreams of the majority to protect a few. The cure cannot be more dangerous than the disease,” they continued.
“We risk losing who we are as a nation by completely shutting down the country and the economy. Americans are strong, resilient, and independent!” they added.
Users are encouraged to submit information for their own local rallies, and there is an option to donate, with proceeds going to Women for America First.
Citizens across America took to the streets in places like Lansing, Michigan, and Richmond, Virginia, last week to protest the lockdown orders and demand the reopening of their respective states. Some states, like Florida and Texas, are allowing their stay-at-home orders to expire this week.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) announced Monday that the Lone Star State will be moving into the first phase of reopening May 1. Under Phase One, retail stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and malls can reopen under certain restrictions limiting occupancy.
The state will be able to move into Phase Two, which increases occupancy and opens up additional businesses, as early as May 18 if they are able to contain the spread of the virus during the the first phase.
The next step is to show the elites, the entertainers, the media, that we will not stand for their BS, we will not surrender our freedoms for failed policies of socialism or communism (really the same thing at the core), and we will fight for our freedoms.  People around the world need to stand up as well, and not allow you governments to treat you like possessions.

The Left Pushing Socialism/Communism Via Virus Panic - Part 3

The good news is, some are starting to wake up, and some in government are beginning to push pack.  There are examples in the previous articles, and here are several more:

Donald Trump Wants State Lockdowns to Face Legal Scrutiny

President Donald Trump on Monday at the White House defended Attorney General Bill Barr’s concerns about some coronavirus restrictions violating the Constitution.
“The fact that people aren’t allowed to have their freedom causes tremendous amounts of problems, including death,” Trump said during a press conference on Monday at the White House
Trump was asked by a reporter about Barr’s memo that directed federal prosecutors to look for state and local stay at home orders that went too far. Barr wrote:
Many policies that would be unthinkable in regular times have become commonplace in recent weeks, and we do not want to unduly interfere with the important efforts of state and local officials to protect the public. But the Constitution is not suspended in times of crisis.
Trump indicated that he agreed with Barr’s approach.
“He wants to be sure people have their rights and that they maintain their rights, very importantly,” Trump said. “A lot of people agree with him.”
Trump noted that some businesses were facing financial ruin because of government lockdown orders.
“By the way, that causes death also, between all of the things that happen,” he said.

Attorney General William Barr Warns States, Local Governments to Respect Religious Freedom

U.S. Attorney General William Barr issued a warning Monday to state and local governments not to infringe on fundamental freedoms and civil rights in their enforcement of coronavirus restrictions, specifically warning against religious discrimination.
In a memorandum to all U.S. attorneys, Barr began by noting that he had previously urged prosecutors to target frauds and scams that exploited the pandemic. Now, he said, there was a new challenge:
I am directing each of our United States Attorneys to also be on the lookout for state and local directives that could be violating the constitutional rights and civil liberties of individual citizens.
As the Department of Justice explained recently in guidance to states and localities taking steps to battle the pandemic, even in times of emergency, when reasonable and temporary restrictions are placed on rights, the First Amendment and federal statutory law prohibit discrimination against religious institutions and religious believers. The legal restrictions on state and local authority are not limited to discrimination against religious institutions and religious believers. For example, the Constitution also forbids, in certain circumstances, discrimination against disfavored speech and undue interference with the national economy. If a state or local ordinance crosses the line from an appropriate exercise of authority to stop the spread of COVID-19 into an overbearing infringement ofconstitutional and statutory protections, the Department of
Justice may have an obligation to address that overreach in federal court.
I am therefore directing the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Eric Dreiband, and Matthew Schneider; the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, to oversee and coordinate our efforts to monitor state and local policies and, if necessary, take action to correct them. They should work not only with all Department ofJustice offices and other federal agencies, but with state and local officials as well.
Barr concluded: “[T]he Constitution is not suspended in times of crisis. We must therefore be vigilant to ensure its protections are preserved, at the same time that the public is protected.”
Barr has expressed alarm in recent weeks about overly aggressive coronavirus restrictions. News reports have also documented state and local governments — usually, run by Democrats — that have clamped down on such innovations as “drive-thru” religious services.
The Attorney General has been celebrated by conservatives — and vilified by liberals — for recent lectures, dating to last year, in which he defended religion and religious liberty as “indispensable to sustaining a free system of government.”

Pennsylvania Businesses Ask Supreme Court to Intervene, Overrule Gov. Wolf’s Stay-at-Home Order (partial)

A group of Pennsylvania businesses, alongside Republican state House candidate Danny DeVito, are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene and overrule Gov. Tom Wolf’s (D) stay-at-home order closing businesses deemed “nonessential,” filing the request on Monday.
DeVito’s campaign filed the request on Monday alongside “realtor Kathy Gregory, ‘B and J’ laundry, Blueberry Hill golf course and Caledonia Land Company,” according to reports. They contend that Wolf’s order is “continuing to cause irreparable harm to the Petitioners and all those businesses and entities in the same non-life- sustaining classification as Petitioners,” per the court filing.
If the Supreme Court fails to intervene “tens of thousands of other businesses may not be able to recover from the severe financial distress caused by the Order,” the petitioners warned.

Gov. Abbott: Texas Kicking Off Phase One of Reopening this Week

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on Monday, after conferring with the public and private leaders and medical experts comprising the Strike Force to Open Texas, announced the expiration of the existing stay-at-home order April 30 and the state’s entry into Phase One of reopening, which kicks off Friday, May 1.
Abbott announced that the state’s stay-at-home order will expire as scheduled April 30, with the Lone Star state quickly moving into the first phase of reopening.
The governor said the state’s coronavirus cases have been on the decline for 17 days, adding that the hospitalization rate has “held steady.” Texas has the third most virus recoveries, Abbott said, adding that recoveries will soon exceed the number of active cases.
He explained that officials have been laying the groundwork to reopen since March and detailed the phased approach to reopening, designed to put measures in place that will help businesses open but contain virus and keep Texans safe.
The first phase emphasizes the importance of vulnerable populations remaining at home, if possible, and doubles down on the efforts to protect seniors in nursing homes.
The more we do to protect vulnerable, “the faster we can safely open business in Texas,” Abbott said.
Several businesses can reopen May 1, including retail stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and malls. The ultimate decision, Abbott stressed, was driven by doctors who also provided health guidelines for businesses, employees, and customers.
On the advice of doctors, Abbott is limiting occupancy to “no more than 25 percent” in those facilities to help minimize the spread of the virus.
“This is a proven business strategy,” Abbott said, citing the successful practice used by Home Depot and adding that his order “supersedes” all local orders.
If Phase One works while containing the virus, Phase Two will allow businesses to expand their occupancy to 50 percent. Abbott also said that the restrictions could vary by counties with five or fewer cases, allowing them to increase their capacity to 50 percent if they meet the qualifications. If there is an outbreak, however, it could require a county to revert back to a limited capacity.
Churches and places of worship were kept open under existing executive order, Abbott explained, but he said they will be able to “expand capacity even more” as of May 1. Outdoor sports will also be permitted, but he is limiting the number of participants playing together at one time to four.
The governor said there are other businesses he wants to reopen, but experts advised that it is “simply not safe enough” to allow them to proceed at this particular time. Those include barbershops, bars, gyms, and hair salons. Officials are working with experts to open those businesses “as soon as possible.” He said he hopes they can open on or no later than mid-May.
Abbott also said, if they can contain the spread of the virus during the first phase, the state could move to Phase Two as early as May 18.
“If we can contain the spread of COVID-19 during that time period, we can move to Phase Two as early as May 18,” he announced.
The second phase will “open more businesses and allow businesses opened in Phase One to expand the operations. We need to see two weeks of data to confirm no flare-up of COVID-19.”
Abbott also said he spoke with White House Coronavirus Task Force member Dr. Deborah Birx about the plan and she approved, calling the Texas plan “great.”
“This strategic approach to opening the state of Texas prioritizes the health and safety of our communities and follows the guidelines laid out by our team of medical experts,” Abbott said in a statement.
“Now more than ever, Texans must remain committed to safe distancing practices that reduce the spread of COVID-19, and we must continue to rely on doctors and data to provide us with the safest strategies to restore Texans’ livelihoods,” he continued, emphasizing the need to protect the vulnerable.
“If we remain focused on protecting the lives of our fellow Texans, we can continue to open the Lone Star State,” he added.

The difference in the response from Democrats and Republicans is truly astounding.  One side wants fascism, total control, and the other respects individual freedom.  Which do you want?

The Left Pushing Socialism/Communism Via Virus Panic - Part 2

This is what we are seeing from the Left, all in response to this overblown"crisis".  The governor of Virginia tried to close a shooting range.  The pope is demanding obedience to being locked down like prisoners.  YouTube is censoring videos of doctors stating we need to re-open.  The mayor of New York and his wife are out disregarding rules he demands others follow.  A Mississippi mayor is suspending open carry. The governor of Illinois tried to extend lockdown orders.  Parts of each article included here, full articles at the links:

Judge: Ralph Northam Lacks Authority to Close Indoor Gun Range During Coronavirus Shutdown

Yeatts ruling came in Lynchburg Range and Training v. Ralph Northam, a case brought by Lynchburg Range and Training after Northam refused to recognize indoor gun ranges as essential businesses. The result was that indoor gun ranges had to close during the statewide shutdown.
Northam allowed outdoor ranges to remain open and responded to the suit by claiming Virginians who wanted to shoot could simply use an outdoor range instead of one indoors. But Yeatts noted, “The Governor failed to provide evidence that there are any outdoor gun ranges in Lynchburg, which has an ordinance that allows the discharge of firearms only at approved gun ranges.”
Yeatts noted the Court could not find an outdoor gun range inside Lynchburg city limits either and pointed out “the right to keep and bear arms is not relegated to the outskirts of the city” to begin with.

Pope Francis Calls for ‘Obedience’ to State Lockdowns

ROME — Pope Francis urged obedience to state lockdown measures Tuesday, just 36 hours after Italian bishops reproached the government for refusing to allow public worship.
“At this time, as indications emerge for a way out of quarantine, we pray that the Lord will grant us the grace of prudence and obedience to these indications, so that the pandemic does not return,” the pontiff said in a daily tweet.

YouTube Censors Video of California Doctors Calling for Reopening of Country

YouTube has taken down a video of two doctors from Bakersfield, California, who held a press conference calling for the reopening of the country. According to the Google-owned video platform, the doctors “violated community guidelines.”
The doctors, Dan Erickson and Artin Massihi, operate out of an urgent care clinic in Bakersfield. Citing fatality statistics in California, the doctors argued that the Chinese virus has proven less deadly than anticipated.
“We have 39.5 million people, if we just take a basic calculation and extrapolate that out, that equates to about 4.7 million cases throughout the state of California,” said Dr. Erickson. “Which means this thing is widespread, that’s the good news. We’ve seen 1,227 deaths in the state of California with a possible incidents or prevalence of 4.7 million. That means you have a 0.03 chance of dying from COVID-19 in the state of California.”

‘Selfish’ Bill de Blasio, Wife Heckled for Taking Walk in Prospect Park (full article)

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, along with his wife Chirlane McCray, traveled to Brooklyn’s Prospect Park over the weekend, where they took a stroll and were heckled by locals in the area.
While de Blasio and his wife wore protective face coverings, one local who filmed the couple walking through the park on Saturday considered their outing to be “nonessential travel.”
Darren Goldner, the local who filmed the video, scolded de Blasio and his wife for having four of their SUV security entourage vehicles to escort them to the park eleven miles away from their residence.
“Seriously, you guys have a park. You live in a park,” Goldner said as he filmed the couple. “You don’t need to non-essentially travel to Brooklyn. Come on you won’t even open roads for people of all backgrounds. I’m not going to give it a break. This is selfish behavior.”
De Blasio and his family reside in Gracie Mansion, which is reserved for New York mayors and is located on the Upper East Side inside Carl Schurz Park. Before moving to Gracie Mansion in 2014, de Blasio resided in Park Slope, Brooklyn, which is near Prospect Park.
Amid Goldner’s remarks, aides attempted to slow Goldner down in an attempt to prevent him from obtaining footage of de Blasio in the park. As Goldner filmed de Blasio, the mayor raised his hand dismissively and said, “Come on guys, give it a break.”
“This is so terribly selfish,” Goldner continued. “You call yourself a progressive, but you chauffeur yourself to Brooklyn, you force people to drive you. This is ridiculous. This is the epitome of nonessential travel.”
As of this week, New York state has reported more than 291,000 cases of the deadly coronavirus and 17,303 deaths. A great majority of the cases were reported from New York City, which had over 163,000 cases as of Monday.

Mississippi Mayor Suspends Open Carry During Coronavirus Crisis (full article)

Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba (D) of Jackson, Mississippi, issued an order over the weekend temporarily prohibiting law-abiding citizens from openly carrying handguns during the coronavirus crisis.
The Clarion-Ledger reports that Mississippi adopted open carry in 2013 and Y’all Politics quotes Lumumba claiming that “child deaths by firearms in the South have increased 72 percent.”
In issuing the order, Lumumba said:
The Open Carry law interferes with law enforcement’s ability to take illegal guns off of the streets. Prior to the Open Carry law, when Jackson police officers saw a gun in plain view, it gave them the probable cause to seize the weapon and determine whether it was an illegal weapon or not. The Open Carry law not only provides protection for individuals who are armed with illegal weapons; it creates an atmosphere of fear and intimidation in the community. We cannot continue to turn a blind eye to the fact that the Open Carry law has led to an increase in gun violence in our communities.
He said, “Sending thoughts and prayers to the families who have lost loved one to senseless gun violence is not enough.” He stressed that “action” is required.
Lumumba then signed an executive order suspending open carry “during the [coronavirus] civil emergency.”

Judge Rules Against Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s Lockdown Extension

A judge on Monday ruled against Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) by issuing a restraining order over the extension of his stay-at-home order, which was implemented as part of an effort to blunt the spread of the Chinese coronavirus.
Clay County Circuit Court Judge Michael McHaney handed down the restraining order to temporarily pause lockdown rules scheduled to commence Friday.

The Left Pushing Socialism/Communism Via Virus Panic - Part 1

Of course they are.  That's what the Left does.  They convince people that they "need" the government to coddle them like babies, providing all "necessary" things, such as income ,health care, housing, etc., and they push for removal of all freedoms.  Make no mistake they do not care about you; they seek total control.  If the Left has their way, we will see a return to times with powerful people having everything, and the serf -all of us - having nothing.  You think medieval times were bad?  They were nothing compared to what these control freaks would usher in.

Listen to what Hillary is stating, and she's only echoing the rest: (video at the link)

Hillary Clinton: Coronavirus ‘Would Be a Terrible Crisis to Waste’; Need ‘Universal Health Care’

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that the coronavirus pandemic “would be a terrible crisis to waste” by not creating “universal health care.”
Clinton, the Democratic Party nominee in the 2016 presidential election, was speaking to former Vice President Joe Biden in a virtual women’s “town hall” meeting, during which she endorsed him for president.
Biden nodded in agreement as Clinton spoke about exploiting the coronavirus pandemic to bring about the left’s dream of “universal health care”:
This is a high-stakes time, because of the pandemic. But this is also a really high-stakes election. And every form of health care should continue to be available, including reproductive health care for every woman in this country. And then it needs to be part of a much larger system that eventually — and quickly, I hope — gets us to universal health care. [Biden nods] So I can only say, “Amen,” to everything you’re saying, but also to, again, enlist people that this would be a terrible crisis to waste, as the old saying goes. [Biden nods] We’ve learned a lot about what our absolute frailties are in our country when it comes to health justice and economic justice.
The “old saying” to which Clinton referred may have been the statement of President Barack Obama’s incoming chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel in December 2008, who told the Wall Street Journal: “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.”

Emanuel specifically noted that health care was one policy area that the Obama administration hoped to use the opportunity of the financial crisis — then in full swing — to address. Just over a year later, President Obama signed Obamacare into law.
Republicans criticized the program for, among other things, serving as a “Trojan horse” for universal, government-run health care. In the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primary, Biden theoretically rejected the more ambitious “Medicare for All” policy adopted by many of his rivals, but embraced a policy allowing all individuals under 65 to buy into Medicare. He has since offered to expand to those 60 years old or older, in a bit to appease supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
Democrats have repeatedly suggested using the coronavirus crisis to advance specific ideological ends. House Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC), a key Biden supporter, reportedly told fellow House Democrats during a conference call on the first coronavirus relief bill in March: ““This is a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.”
Nearly 60,000 Americans have died from coronavirus thus far, and there have been over one million confirmed cases.
Clinton did not explain how “universal health care” would have helped; countries like Italy, with a fully socialized health care system, were among the hardest hit by the pandemic, which began in late December in communist China.

Then we have this clown, and he's not alone in his opinions, either:

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont: Social Distancing Part of ‘New Normal’

Gov. Ned Lamont (D) made a point Monday of asserting states such as Georgia and Oklahoma are opening up businesses “prematurely” and that Connecticut residents would have to get accustomed to social distancing as part of a “new normal.”
Lamont told reporters at a blood drive, according to the CT Mirror:
I’m looking at Georgia. I’m looking at Oklahoma. I’m looking at those states where I think they opened up prematurely, especially those types of places where it’s impossible to socially distance. I keep that in mind as we figure what is the phased way that we can get our state back to work, but only if we do it in a safe way.
The CT Mirror further reported:
Lamont said his Reopen Connecticut advisory group would issue an update Thursday, but he said the first restrictions to be eased likely would be aimed at small businesses where social distancing could be maintained. Connecticut, he said, will have to feel its way to “the new normal” as the pandemic subsides.
Dr. Ajay Kumar, chief clinical officer of Hartford HealthCare system, agreed with the governor Connecticut residents must expect to engage in social distancing to some degree at least through the fall.
“It’s not the most popular thing to say at the moment,” said Kumar, adding, “That’s the only thing that’s going to keep the virus away from us.”
Lamont last ordered many businesses to remain closed until May 20.
“May 20th is a big date,” he said. “We’re going to have more testing by then, give us a better idea of what the infection rate looks like around different parts of the state. And we‘re going to have even more PPE.”
The Tax Foundation reported 21.5 percent of Connecticut’s workforce has now filed for unemployment, the second-highest unemployment claims in the nation behind Michigan.
According to the latest data reported as of 8:00 p.m. Monday, Connecticut has a statewide total of 25,997 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, an increase of 728 since Sunday.
The statewide total of deaths associated with COVID-19 is 2,012, with 88 more since Sunday.
The total number of COVID-19 tests reported is 90,746, and 1,758 patients are reported currently hospitalized with the infection caused by the Chinese virus, which is 8 fewer than Sunday.

This isn't all, either.  Stay tuned for Part 2.

Facts Showing What We All Suspected About Wuhan Virus!

Well, well, isn't this interesting?!  Not only was the virus here earlier than before claimed, it's also proving to be far less serious than many projected.

CDC Confirms 1st Coronavirus Fatality Occurred February 6, Weeks Earlier than Thought

Autopsy results confirmed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed that the first American to die of the novel coronavirus illness (COVID-19) currently plaguing the globe perished on February 6, weeks earlier than initially believed, health officials in California’s Santa Clara County revealed on Tuesday.
Dr. Sara Cody, a public health officer in Santa Clara County declared, according to the San Francisco Chronicle:
What it means is we had coronavirus circulating in the community much earlier than we had documented and much earlier than we had thought. Those deaths probably represent many, many more infections. And so there had to be chains of transmission that go back much earlier.
Several studies have indicated that the coronavirus outbreak is far more widespread than previously thought but less deadly than initially predicted, with some researchers saying the mortality rate may be similar to the average death rate from the seasonal flu (0.1 percent).
Before the CDC confirmed revelations by Santa Clara County officials that two people died of COVID-19 at home on February 6 and 17, health officials believed the first American death from the virus had taken place on February 29 in Kirkland, Washington. CDC officials had detected what they believed to be the first positive coronavirus case in the United States on January 21 in a man who had traveled from China to Seattle on January 15.
While Dr. Cody did not identify the people who died in February, she reportedly indicated that the fatalities “tell us we had community transmission – probably significant community transmission – far before we realized it and documented it.”
“From what we understand, neither of the cases had a history of travel,” Cody added. “So we assume that they were acquired locally.”
Given that people typically succumb to the novel coronavirus a month after they are infected, the person who died on February 6 may have contracted the virus in early January, when officials believed the disease was only present in China.
At the time, the CDC had not issued any advisories to Americans about the prospective threat.
On Tuesday, the Santa Clara Medical Examiner-Coroner issued a statement announcing that autopsies on the two people who perished in early and mid-February revealed they had contracted the virus.
That same day, the CDC reportedly confirmed that tissue samples submitted by county officials tested positive for the virus.
On Tuesday, Santa Clara County officials announced a total of three previously unidentified coronavirus deaths: the cases on February 6 and 17 and one on March 6.
Both cases in February predate the death that health officials believed to be the first fatality.
Initially, health officials had reported the first death in Santa Clara County on March 9.
Santa Clara County officials declared in the statement issued Tuesday:
[The] three individuals died at home during a time when very limited testing was available only through the CDC. Testing criteria set by the CDC at the time restricted testing to only individuals with a known travel history and who sought medical care for specific symptoms. As the Medical Examiner-Coroner continues to carefully investigate deaths throughout the county, we anticipate additional deaths from COVID-19 will be identified.
The recent revelations came after California Gov. Gavin Newsom promised a “deep dive” update Wednesday of the state’s ability to test for the coronavirus and to track and isolate people who have it.
Gov. Newsom said that testing and isolating infected people is key to lifting a lockdown order believed to have slowed the spread of the disease while forcing millions of people to file for unemployment benefits, the Associated Press (AP) noted.
California has expanded testing to asymptomatic residents, becoming the first state to do so, health officials in the state reportedly indicated.
Last weekend, the state issued new guidelines to screen asymptomatic people in “congregate living facilities,” such as homeless shelters.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the coronavirus had infected over 830,780 and killed more than 45,600 in the United States alone, the Johns Hopkins University tracker revealed. The university also noted that the U.S. had conducted over 4.1 million tests.
Similar to seasonal flu, just like I've been saying for weeks now!  Is anyone surprised?  Let's get the country opened again!!

Americans Want the Counry Open NOW!

The video with this article is amazing!  It won't play here, so just use the article link, because you want to watch this one.  Michigan, not typically considered a red state, and this is how angry people are at their fascist governor!

Watch – Protester: Gov. Whitmer ‘Putting Michigan in Donald Trump’s Win Column’

Radio host Steve Gruber, who attended Wednesday’s protest in Lansing, Michigan, on Wednesday, sent a pointed message to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D), pointing to the massive crowd of protesters in the area and reminding her that they will vote in November.
Thousands of protesters flocked to Lansing on Wednesday to protest the governor’s stringent stay-at-home orders and refusal to signal the reopening the economy. Gruber told Breitbart News that the governor is, effectively, “putting Michigan in Donald Trump’s win column again in 2020.”
“I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. Not in the state capital. Not in a protest,” he said, stating that there were “tens of thousands” of people in attendance.
“But you look around. People want to go back to work. They don’t want to be told whether they can do gardening, whether or not they can do a home improvement project, or whether or not they can use their boat with a motor on it or go to their cabin up north,” he said.
“They want to be Americans which is being free, and they know the COVID-19 thing is in the backslide. They were okay with it for a while,” he noted, but said it has “gone on too long.”
“The economy is destroyed,” he said.
Most people in attendance, Gruber said, have “never been to a political protest in their life.”
“You know why? They used to have jobs. They didn’t have time. Now they’ve got to go here because they don’t have job. A million Michigan residents jobless because of this whole mess,” he said, adding that the anger is building up not only in Michigan “but in Pennsylvania, in New York, in Wisconsin, across this country.”
“Right now, what Gretchen Whitmer has done, is put Michigan back in Donald Trump’s column. Look at this,” he said as protesters honked in the background. “You think these people aren’t going to vote? These people are all going to vote. Every one of these people. Every direction you look here. They’re all going to vote. Every one of them.”
“Gretchen Whitmer is putting Michigan in Donald Trump’s win column again in 2020. Congratulations governor. Look what you’ve done. Maybe time to reconsider. She won’t, but she should,” he continued, adding that residents will end up taking their chances, come May 1.

Liten to all the horns!  Yeah, people are angry, and sick of lies.  Sick of being told there are so many Wuhan flu deaths, and yet far fewer fro other causes we see every year, and so many with no testing or negative testing labeled as Wuhan flu.  And, yeah, using that name, because it's far more descriptive and accurate.  I even know someone who claims to know a family with a member who is "sick from the virus", trying to convince me how "dangerous" it is, and actually admitted that the patient tested negative!  But, gee, really, doctors believe that person has it.....sure they do; that means federal funding!

We need to re=open the country NOW.  Not next week, not May 1, right now.

Mayor tells residents to find their own tornado shelter, because of virus.

Now this is ridiculous!!  Bad storms, tornado threats, and a mayor told people that public shelters would not be available, because someone might catch a virus??  Insanity!  Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed. The shelter issue is down quite a ways in the article:

Massive Easter storm system threatens 95 million, includes tornadoes and tennis ball-size hail

Millions of Americans in the Southeast are at risk as a powerful storm system mars the Easter holiday, bringing heavy rain, tornadoes and hail.
The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center  said severe thunderstorms are likely into Sunday night, with the greatest threat in Louisiana through the Tennessee Valley.
"Big weather going on today," Fox News Chief Meteorologist Rick Reichmuth said on "Fox & Friends Weekend." "So many people across the South here on this Easter Sunday looking at the threat for some really severe weather."
According to Reichmuth, a "really complex storm system" across the central part of the country is also bringing "significant snow," up to a foot, in the upper Midwest.
A severe weather outbreak is forecasted for Easter Sunday across the Southeast, with the greatest threats in Louisiana, Mississippi, and into Alabama.

"It's the southern side of this where we are going to be talking for some really potentially strong tornadoes throughout the afternoon and evening, everyone needs to watch," he said Sunday.
The storm center said some 95 million people may be impacted by the storms. More than 5.8 million people live in the area where the most dangerous weather was most likely, including Birmingham, Ala., and Jackson, Miss.

In those areas, thunderstorms may produce long-lived supercells "capable of producing significant tornadoes," the center said.
The SPC issued a tornado watch for portions of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi through 8 pm CDT Sunday that warned of "a particularly dangerous situation" are several tornadoes, widespread wind damage, and large hail.
The NWS office in Jackson, Miss. told residents to brace for the possibility of long-lasting tornadoes. Waves of storms with occasional lulls could continue into early Monday, with as much as 3 inches of rain possible.
"This could be one of our bigger events we’ve had in a long time around here," Weather Service forecaster Gary Goggins said in a public briefing on Facebook. "Take this seriously."
Communities around the region also prepared to open storm shelters, even though there was confusion in some municipalities over COVID-19 concerns.
CORONAVIRUS AND TORNADO SHELTERS: HERE'S WHAT FORECASTERS SAY YOU SHOULD DO DURING A WARNING
In a video message posted on the town's Facebook page on Friday, Alexander City Mayor Thomas Spraggins said residents of the central Alabama town needed to find a safe place on their own since public buildings wouldn't be open as shelters because of the coronavirus.
“I'll be praying for everyone to have a safe and happy Easter,” he said.

But by Saturday, the city's police department said shelters were opened after all, with temperature checks performed and gloves and masks being provided to anyone entering.
"Those that seek shelter will ENTER AT THEIR OWN RISK," the city said.
The initial decision against opening shelters was at odds with a message from Gov. Kay Ivey.
"Both the National Weather Service and the State Public Health Department remind Alabamians that the use of shelters and other resources take precedent, should the need arise," Ivey said in a statement Saturday, according to WBRC.
Forecasters and emergency officials in several states have offered guidance about using shelters as tornado season approaches during the pandemic. The NWS office in Birmingham.said in a statement that health officials are recommending during the pandemic the first priority during a tornado warning should be "to protect yourself."
Even with that guidance, some in the region said they were staying put even with strong storms in the forecast.
“I will not go to a storm shelter because of COVID-19,” Jackie Hill-Gordon told WBRC, adding that she and her husband feel they are secure at home with helmets, weather radios and other equipment in case they need it.
Severe thunderstorms began erupting Saturday in Texas, with residents in the town of Del Rio reporting hail the size of baseballs.
"This is gigantic. They're just falling from the sky," one person said on Twitter.
Another person reported that large hail had smashed through a skylight in their home.

CBS Posts Italian Hospital Footage, Again, Claiming It's U.S.

These people are not making a mistake here; this is deliberate.  Why does anyone trust a word they have to say?  Massive TDS causing a lapse in judgment?

Nolte: CBS News Plays Italy Hospital Footage — Again — for Report on U.S. Coronavirus Response

Far-left CBS has been caught broadcasting misleading hospital footage for a second time during the coronavirus pandemic.
About two weeks ago, on March 22, CBS News used deceptively-edited footage the first time. Breitbart News reported then that “Far-left CBS News was caught red-handed using chaotic footage from an Italian hospital in a story about New York City hospitals.”
“It was an editing mistake. We took immediate steps to remove it from all platforms and shows,” CBS News explained unconvincingly at the time.
The establishment media’s coronavirus agenda is as sociopathic as it is obvious: up the death count. Why else would the media be actively looking to discourage those suffering from the Chinese virus from taking perfectly safe (as long as it’s in consultation with a doctor) anti-malaria drugs?
Simply put, the more Americans who die, the more it hurts President Trump’s 2020 reelection chances. And one way to mislead the American people into believing the death count is unnecessarily high is to air chaotic hospital footage from Italy — a country with socialized medicine, by the way — and tell us this is an American hospital.
In the case of the first CBS fake news broadcast, the Italian footage was used to exaggerate and misrepresent a New York hospital.
Over the weekend, CBS News again used this video to mislead its viewers, this time while talking about a Philadelphia hospital:
As I mentioned in my earlier piece the first time CBS intentionally misled its viewers with this footage:
Am I the only one who’s noticed how these so-called “mistakes” only ever fall in one direction?

Am I saying the media are hoping for death and chaos? Am I saying the media care more about beating Trump in 2020 than they do American lives? You’re goddamned right that what’s I’m saying.
And that’s why these mistakes only ever fall one way: in favor of the fake news media’s anti-Trump agenda.
Has the media ever made a mistake in Trump’s favor?
No. But you already knew that.
Look at the legion of coronavirus lies we have already caught the establishment media spreading, and now we’re supposed to believe this was just — oopsies! — an editing error.
What’s more, and let’s never forget this… CBS was also caught lying when it spread the fake news that Trump told those suffering from the coronavirus to go to work.
After CBS was busted using this footage the first time, CBS said it “took immediate steps to remove [the clip] from all platforms and shows.”
Well, obviously CBS didn’t.
But here’s the thing…
Ask yourself this… Why is CBS News forced to use another country’s B-roll to try to fool the American people into believing things are worse than they are?
The asking of the question answers the question… because CBS cannot get its hands on legitimate footage of U.S. hospital chaos.
And don’t for a minute believe that’s due to a lack of trying.
But as we have seen over the past few weeks, although things are bad, they are nowhere near as bad as the media hoped. Everyone who has so far needed a ventilator has gotten one. Nearby hospitals have been able to handle any overflow, so our hospitals are not overwhelmed, not even in New York,  and coronavirus patients are not stacked one upon the other.
But just don’t call CBS News the enemy of the people. That would be wrong.

If they didn't depend on lies, what would the Left have left?

Truckers Delivering Essential Goods Struggle to Find Bathrooms, Rest Stops

So, why is it that essential workers aren't being protected here?  These people have to have a place to eat, and bathrooms to use!  Without them, the whole country stops working!  This madness needs to stop.  The panic is far ore harmful than this Chinese virus!

Truckers Delivering Essential Goods Struggle to Find Bathrooms, Rest Stops

The coronavirus is adding stress to truckers delivering essential goods throughout the U.S. as they struggle to find bathrooms and rest stops to grab a bite to eat and take a nap.
“It’s been especially hard if you can’t find a place to park,” Angie Baum, who drives with her husband, Larry, told KTVI. “A lot of the truck stops are limiting the number of trucks that come in.”
The Baums, who hail from Belleville, Illinois, chronicle their journey as married truck drivers on a Facebook page called “Married 2 The Road.”
“We’re out on the road a lot more,” Angie said. “We’re out about six days a week right now. We’re home for usually about a day, day and a half.”
Many truck stops are closed to anything except filling up for fuel, and signs hanging from locked doors say that “no coffee or water” or “no bathrooms” are available.
“A cup of coffee keeps me energized, and taking a shower makes me feel like a human out here instead of like a dog,” said Jim Allison of Ironton, Missouri, as he was driving out of Chicago.
Some people have stepped up to the plate to feed these truckers, like these volunteers in Danville, Virginia, who offered free food to truck drivers:
https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=2523263837946568&id=100007889299335
The Baums said they can keep going for a longer time than most truckers because they are a team, but they also said those rest stops are crucial for their safety, and it is only getting harder to find good places to pull over to take a break.

We need to get this country open again, and not allow tin pot wannabe dictators to infringe on our freedoms.

Man Tries to Crash Train into Hospital Ship

This is a strange one!  A man in California tried to crash a train into the Mercy, apparently believing it was there for some purpose other than what is stated.  Strange case.  I wonder who/what pushed him to this, and if there is some underlying agenda.  Maybe I' just suspicious, but something seems off here, beyond the obvious mental disconnect of this fellow:

Eduardo Moreno: California Man Tried to Crash Train Into USNS Mercy, Feds Say

Eduardo Moreno is a California man and train engineer at the Port of Los Angeles who is accused of intentionally derailing his locomotive and trying to crash into the USNS Mercy, a Naval ship brought to San Pedro to help with the fight against the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The 44-year-old Moreno admitted to running his train at a high rate of speed off the train tracks near the hospital ship, federal authorities said in a press release.
According to federal prosecutors, Moreno told FBI agents that he was concerned about why the hospital ship had really been brought to the Los Angeles area, saying he believed it could have been there as part of a plan for a government takeover or other COVID-19-related conspiracy theories. He was operating a Pacific Harbor Line train on Tuesday, March 31, according to the criminal complaint.
“Moreno ran the train off the end of tracks, and crashed through a series of barriers before coming to rest more than 250 yards from the Mercy,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California said in a statement. “No one was injured in the incident, and the Mercy was not harmed or damaged in any way. The incident did result in the train leaking a substantial amount of fuel oil, which required clean up by fire and other hazardous materials personnel.”
Moreno was arrested after the incident and charged with train wrecking, a federal offense that carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office. “Moreno was held overnight on local charges, and he was turned over to FBI agents this morning. Moreno is expected to make an initial appearance in federal court this afternoon,” federal prosecutors said on Wednesday, April 1.
Moreno and his family could not be reached for comment by Heavy, and it is not clear if he has hired or been appointed an attorney who could speak on his behalf. Moreno was charged under “18 USC 1992: Wrecking trains,” which makes it a federal offense to willfully derail or disable a train or engine used in interstate or foreign commerce by any railroad. According to court documents, the charge’s full title is terrorist attacks and other violence against railroad carriers and mass transportation systems, and the FBI notes it is commonly known as train wrecking.
Here’s what you need to know about Eduardo Moreno and the incident:

1. Eduardo Moreno Told the FBI He Thinks the USNS Mercy Is ‘Suspicious’ & Did Not Believe It Is ‘What They Say It’s For’ & He Hoped the Train Crash Would ‘Wake People Up,’ Prosecutors Say

Eduardo Moreno, the train operator, was interviewed twice by FBI agents from the Joint Terrorism Task Force, who are leading the investigation, according to federal prosecutors. Moreno provided information about his motive and admitted to intentionally crashing the train, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Moreno told the agents he “did it,” according to prosecutors. He also said during the interview that he “was suspicious of the Mercy and believing it had an alternate purpose related to COVID-19 or a government takeover.” The train engineer told investigators he worked alone and did not pre-plan the “attempted attack.” Moreno said he knew it would bring media attention to the ship and said “people could see for themselves,” prosecutors said.
According to the press release, Moreno, in his second interview with the FBI, said his desire was to “wake people up” and again said he thought the Naval hospital ship was “suspicious” and he doesn’t think “the ship is what they say it’s for.”
In an affidavit filed by FBI Special Agent Douglas Swain, Moreno told the officer who arrested him, without provocation, statements such as, “You only get this chance once. The whole world is watching. I had to. People don’t know what’s going on here. Now they will. At night, they turn off the lights and don’t let anyone in. I’m going to expose this to the world. When was the last time you went to Dodgers’ stadium? We might not be able to go again.”
In an interview with police, Moreno said he was not sick, but he had been watching what was going on with the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and the medical ship. He said he was “putting all the pieces together,” and “they are segregating us and it needs to be put in the open,” according to the affidavit. Moreno said he was “pushing” the last train car of his workday at the yard with his locomotive on March 31 when he started thinking about “everything” and “just kept going and going,” according to the affidavit.
Moreno told police, “I don’t know. Sometimes you just get a little snap and man, it was fricking exciting I just had it and I was committed. I just went for it, I had one chance.” He said “no one was pushing his buttons” to make him do it, according to the affidavit.
Moreno later told investigators he was trying to draw the world’s attention to the ship. He told agents, “I jumped the train off the tracks. I can’t wait to see the video I took the train off the end, I tried to get attention.”
The full affidavit in support of the criminal complaint can be read here.

2. The USNS Mercy Is Being Used to Help Relieve the Pressure on Los Angeles-Area Hospitals & Not to Treat Coronavirus Patients

The USNS Mercy has been in the Port of Los Angeles since March 27, the Orange County Register reported. The ship is not being used to treat COVID-19 patients but instead to help free up local hospitals that are treating coronavirus patients. The first patients were brought aboard the ship on March 29, the Register reported. In a press release on March 29, the Department of Defense said:
While in Los Angeles, the ship will serve as a referral hospital for non-COVID-19 patients currently admitted to shore-based hospitals, and will provide a full spectrum of medical care, including general surgeries, critical care and ward care for adults. This will allow local health professionals to focus on treating COVID-19 patients and for shore-based hospitals to use their intensive care units and ventilators for those patients.
The Mercy is manned for the mission by Navy medical and support staff assembled from 22 commands, as well as more than 70 civil service mariners. Its primary mission is to provide an afloat, mobile, acute surgical medical facility to the U.S. military that is flexible, capable and uniquely adaptable to support expeditionary warfare, officials said. The ship’s secondary mission is to provide full hospital services to support U.S. disaster relief and humanitarian operations worldwide.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our crew for all the hard work they did to get us here and ready in such a short time,” Navy Captain (Dr.) John Rotruck, the Mercy Military Treatment Facility commanding officer, said in a statement on March 29. “Being able to accept our first patients is a true testament of the teamwork between Mercy, the Navy, the State of California, the county of Los Angeles, and the city and Port of L.A.”
Rotruck added, “The men and women embarked on board Mercy are energized, eager, and ready to provide relief to those in need.”

3. A Video Captured the Aftermath of the Train Crash, While the FBI Says Footage From Inside the Train Shows Moreno in the Cab ‘Holding a Lighted Flare’ With His Middle Finger Raised

A video taken by a witness shows the aftermath of the train crash near the San Pedro shipyard. The man who recorded the video mistakenly thought the train had been stolen after seeing the destruction caused by the derailment. The video can be watched above.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California, the crash was witnessed by a California Highway Patrol officer who then arrested Eduardo Moreno as he tried to flee from the scene. Federal prosecutors said:
The CHP officer who witnessed the crash reported seeing ‘the train smash into a concrete barrier at the end of the track, smash into a steel barrier, smash into a chain-link fence, slide through a parking lot, slide across another lot filled with gravel, and smash into a second chain-link fence,’ according to the affidavit in support of the criminal complaint. When the CHP officer contacted Moreno, he made a series of spontaneous statements, including, ‘You only get this chance once. The whole world is watching. I had to. People don’t know what’s going on here. Now they will.’
According to the affidavit, the CHP motorcycle officer, Dillon Eckerfield, said he saw Moreno, wearing a bright yellow fluorescent-colored safety vest come forward from the cab of the train, jump off and run. He stopped him at gunpoint, according to investigators.
Federal prosecutors said Moreno was turned over by the CHP to the Los Angeles Port Police and was interviewed by officers with that department. He also allowed his home in San Pedro to be searched. “The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Port of Los Angeles Police are now leading the investigation,” prosecutors said in a press release.
According to prosecutors, “The Los Angeles Port Police reviewed video recorded from the locomotive’s cab, according to the affidavit. One video shows the train clearly moving at a high rate of speed before crashing through various barriers and coming into close proximity to three occupied vehicles. A second video shows Moreno in the cab holding a lighted flare.”
In the affidavit, the FBI wrote, “This video depicted Moreno operating the train then spontaneously lighting
a road flare inside of the train. Moreno then put the train in full speed and held his hand toward the camera with his middle finger raised. Moreno then held the flare outside of a window through impact. Based on Sgt. Clements’ review of the second video, it did not appear that Moreno attempted to pull back the throttles or engage the braking system.”
The Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to the scene, a spokesperson told The Daily Breeze on March 31. The crash happened about 12:30 p.m., Margaret Stewart told the newspaper. One car derailed near Harbor Boulevard and Swinford Street and a moderate fuel spill was discovered. A private cleaning company was brought in to help remove the fuel, the fire department said.

4. Moreno’s Wife Said in a GoFundMe Campaign for Her Husband, ‘Eddie Is Not Hurt Physically But Isn’t With Us at This Time’

In the aftermath of the train crash and Eddie Moreno’s arrest, his wife started a GoFundMe to ask for help for his family. Eddie Moreno is the father of two young sons, according to his Facebook profile. His wife wrote on the GoFundMe campaign page:
We need all the help we can get. If you can find it in your heart to give, any amount is appreciated more than you will ever know. My family will forever be indebted to you. Eddie is not hurt physically but isn’t with us at this time. I feel like my world has been turned upside down. Please share this with your friends and Eddies friends. Many of you know him and he would give anyone the shirt off his back. All the money raised will be to help him and us to get through this.
Another family member wrote on Facebook, “my brother and his fam are in need of help if you know my brother you’d know what a good hearted person and has fallen into some difficult times what ever you can give plz anything will help. Best believe bro I’ll do what I can for you no matter what.”
Moreno remains in federal custody. According to court documents, he made his first appearance before Magistrate Judge Michael Wilner on Apri 1. He was ordered temporarily detained with a mention hearing set for April 3 and his post-indictment arraignment set for May 7.

5. Eddie Moreno Is a San Pedro, California, Native, Who Has Worked for the Train Company for ‘Many Years’

According to his Facebook profile, Moreno is a San Pedro native and graduated from San Pedro Senior High School. Moreno lives in San Pedro with his wife and their two children, his social media profile shows. Details about his position at the Port of Los Angeles were not immediately available and the train company has not commented about the incident.
According to the FBI affidavit, Moreno has worked for the train company for “many years,” as an engineer. He was responsible for moving train cars using a locomotive.
Abundant Life Church of God in Torrance, California, tweeted a link to this story and wrote, “His family attends our church!” Abundant Life is affiliated with the Cleveland, Tennessee-based Church of God, a Pentecostal Christian denomination. Moreno’s Facebook profile does not reveal any information about his motive or political beliefs.
As of April 1, there have been more than 200 deaths statewide in California as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, with more than 10,000 confirmed cases across the state, according to state officials. On Facebook, just days before the incident involving her husband, Moreno’s wife updated her Facebook profile picture with a message in Spanish telling people to stay home because of COVID-19.
Her profile picture, showing a photo of her with Moreno and their two sons, says bluntly, “quedate en tu pinche casa,” which translates roughly to “stay in your f*cking house.” Below it the meme says, “un movimiento para parar el coronavirus,” or “a movement to stop the coronavirus.” When a Facebook friend responded, “A bit harsh don’t you believe?” Moreno’s wife replied, “yup! And ppl still don’t listen.” She added, “Fresh air has done us some good. Its just out the front door for us now. Throw the ball around then back to hibernation. Doing our part.”

Nothing against the state that restricts people, but an attack on a military medical ship?  Odd, that.  Something missing here.
