While talking to reporters Wednesday, President Trump doubled down on his intent to avoid a “slippery slope” for gun rights.

An unidentified reporter asked Trump what is happening in the push for background checks.
Trump responded, “We have a lot of background checks right now, gun owners can tell you that, others can tell you that. There are certain weaknesses, we want to fix the weaknesses. I think that will happen, let’s see what happens.”
Trump added, “I’m concerned that no matter what we agree to, when we get there, the Democrats will say, ‘Oh, now we want this and we want [that].’ You know it’s a slippery slope, and that’s what, actually, your gun owners and a lot of other people are concerned with.”
On August 20, 2019, Breitbart News reported Trump pledging he will not allow Americans’ gun rights to be swept away on the “slippery slope” of gun control.

Well, it's about time!  I was a bit concerned with all of that "red flag law" talk.   We don't need any such thing.  Those laws infringe on rights, and do nothing to actually prevent crime.  They are about taking guns, based on nothing but hearsay, and that's flat out wrong.  People need to not be so willing to toss away freedom for an illusion of safety.

Donald Trump Cancels Federal Student Debt for Wounded Warriors

President Donald Trump signed a memorandum effectively canceling federal student debt loans for America’s wounded warriors on Wednesday.

“Veterans who have made such enormous sacrifices for our country should not be asked to pay any more, rather it is America who owes our heroes a supreme debt of gratitude,” he said.
The president spoke to the AMVETS Convention in Kentucky on Wednesday, announcing his decision and signing the document.
Trump said the memorandum would effectively cancel the federal student debts of thousands of wounded American veterans.
According to the White House, the memorandum orders Secretaries of Education and Veterans Affairs to expedite totally and permanently that disabled veterans have their Federal student loan debt discharged with minimal burdens.
Trump also touted his administration’s accomplishments for America’s military veterans.
“After years of neglect, we are fixing the heartbreaking failures from the last Administration at the Department of Veterans Affairs,” he said. “America must never abandon our heroes in their hour of need.”
He said that wait times in Veterans Affairs hospitals had been slashed by 33 percent, and touted more VA accountability, allowing bad employees to get fired.
“Now when somebody mistreats you or mistreats people in the VA, we know what happens right?” he asked. “It’s called ‘You’re fired!'”

“They’re gone, they’re fired,” Trump said.
Veterans also cheered Trump’s announcement that he had cut the amount of opioid drugs being prescribed by Veterans Affairs hospitals.
“Get a pain killer that’s not addictive,” Trump said. “And we’re closer than you think.”
Trump also spoke about preventing veteran suicides, suggesting that the government work to obtain a new nasal spray dose of fast-acting anti-depressant medicine to people experiencing suicidal thoughts.
The drug, Spravato, produced by Johnson and Johnson, was recently approved by the federal government.
“They’ve done so well in this country and they’ve made so much money, I think they should give it to us for free,” Trump said, referring to the pharmaceutical company.

Now this is one reason we love this president!  One reason we didn't like the previous one.  This guy cares about the military!  Great move, sir,  truly a great move.  Vets need a lot more decent treatment.

President Trump says he is “very seriously” looking at ending the current policy of birthright citizenship in the United States, whereby hundreds of thousands of U.S.-born children to illegal aliens — often referred to as “anchor babies” — are rewarded with American citizenship every year.

While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Trump said his administration was reviewing an executive order to end the “ridiculous” birthright citizenship policy.

“We’re looking at that very seriously — birthright citizenship. Where you have a baby on our land, you walk over the border, have a baby, congratulations the baby is now a U.S. citizen,” Trump said. “We’re looking at it very, very seriously.”

“We are looking at birthright citizenship very seriously,” Trump continued. “It’s, frankly, ridiculous.”

Nearly a year ago, Trump promised that he was readying an executive order to end birthright citizenship, but the issue has been stalled since October 2018. To date, the U.S. Supreme Court has never explicitly ruled that the children of illegal aliens must be granted birthright citizenship, and many legal scholars dispute the idea.

The children of illegal aliens, after being granted birthright citizenship, are able to anchor their illegal alien and non-citizen parents in the U.S. and eventually are allowed to bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the country through the legal immigration process known as “chain migration.”

Today, there are at least 4.5 million anchor babies in the U.S., exceeding the annual roughly four million American babies born every year and costing American taxpayers about $2.4 billion every year to subsidize hospital costs. Every year, about 300,000 anchor babies are born in the country and as of June, there has been an average of about 124,000 anchor babies already born this year.

The sanctuary state of California is home to at least 1.2 million anchor babies under the age of 18, as Breitbart News reported. This is roughly twice the total population of Wyoming. The total of anchor babies under the age of 18 in ten U.S. states is more than four times the population of Boston, Massachusetts.

In total, there are now an unprecedented 62 million immigrants and their U.S.-born children living across the country, as Breitbart News has previously reported. As of 2017, there were 17.1 million U.S.-born minor children of immigrants in the country.

The U.S. is nearly alone in granting birthright citizenship to the children of foreign nationals and, specifically, illegal aliens. For example, the U.S. and Canada are the only two developed nations with birthright citizenship. On the other hand, countries such as France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Italy, and Germany all have either outlawed birthright citizenship or never had such a policy.

Most recently, Breitbart News reported how pregnant migrant women are waiting in shelters in Mexico with the hope that they will be granted asylum in the U.S. to secure American citizenship for their children.

He really needs to do this NOW.  Immediately.  Most nations in the world do not offer citizenship in such a fashion, and we should not, either.  It's ridiculous.  These people are invaders, annd you don't reward invaders.  You remove them.

Kindergarten Student Allegedly Sent to School with Cocaine

Two people in Louisiana were arrested Tuesday after they allegedly sent a five-year-old kindergarten student to school with cocaine.

A school resource officer in Slidell, Louisiana, found the child with what police say is a large amount of white powder and crack cocaine, WGNO reported.
A teacher initially spotted the student holding the white powder bag which police say contained cocaine. When the officers searched the boy, they also found two more bags of crack cocaine.
Authorities say the five-year-old did not know about the drugs.
Police then obtained a search warrant of the child’s home and discovered more narcotics. Investigators later determined the narcotics were being concealed in the child’s clothing without the child noticing, KNOE reported.
Police arrested Angelica Stanley, 23, and Ellis Cousin, 51, on multiple charges, including narcotics and marijuana possession with the intent to distribute as well as child cruelty.
Police say that officers took proper steps to ensure the child’s needs were met. It was unclear whether his parents were involved in the situation.
Authorities did not reveal which school the child attended.

If they sent the kid to the school that way, it's a safe bet someone there was supposed to be collecting those drugs.  They need to do some investigating.  Sick, to use a child that way!  Sounds like enough to be fatal to small kids.

Gelernter, who formerly served as a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, published a column earlier this year detailing his move away from evolutionary theory. The column, which was titled “Giving Up Darwin,” provides Gelernter’s arguments against Darwinism.

LA City Council Bans Sleeping in Vehicles Overnight amid Homeless Crisis

Sleeping inside a vehicle overnight in a Los Angeles residential area is now banned after the city council recently reinstated the ordinance.

“The law also forbids living in a vehicle within a block of a park, school or day care. Tickets for violating the rules start at $25 for a first offense, $50 the second time and $75 after that,” according to a report by NPR.
The report also states that residents have complained that vehicle encampments cause parking shortages and sanitation issues in their neighborhoods.
However, Mel Tillekeratne, executive director of a nonprofit group for homelessness named The Shower of Hope, called the law “stupid.”
“This law … is going to directly contribute to these people being on the street,” the director said.
On June 4, Breitbart News reported that the number of homeless grew 12 percent over the last year, with numbers reaching almost 59,000 of those living on the street in Los Angeles.
Data from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority “revealed that nearly three-fourths of the homeless population, which includes 58,936 people, are sleeping in cars, tents, and other make-do shelters,” the report said.
On June 27, California’s Democrat governor, Gavin Newsom, signed a state budget that “inludes an historic $1 billion investment” to remedy the “homelessness epidemic across the state.”
However, on July 2, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said the homeless crisis in his city was “decades in the making,” adding that “I welcome federal involvement in helping us solve homelessness.”
On July 19, Dr. Drew Pinsky said Los Angeles is in danger of an outbreak of bubonic plague due to the surge in homelessness and problems with rodent infestations, Breitbart News reported.
“And if you look at the pictures of Los Angeles, you will see that the homeless encampments are surrounded by dumps. People defecate there, they throw their trash there, and the rats just proliferate there,” he said, adding, “I have a government that is ignoring the basic needs of human civilization.”

 So, they have close to sixty thousand people homeless, many living in thei vehicles, and their "solution" is to make it illegal for these people to sleep in those vehicles?  At least in residential areas?  So, people are supposed to camp out in commercial areas, instead?  How does that improve things, again? 

Instead of making it a crime to be poor, maybe they could do something about the ridiculous cost of living there, and do something about sanitation issues, and oh, yeah, the rodents, for which they have literally no management program?

New Jersey Woman Accused of Torching Man’s House for Ignoring Booty Call

A New Jersey woman allegedly torched a man’s house after he invited her over for late-night sex and fell asleep before she came to see him.

Authorities arrested Taija Russell, 29, on Tuesday in connection with the fire that destroyed the man’s home in Woodbury this month, the Cherry Hill Courier-Post reported.

Police say Russell sent several angry text messages to the sleeping resident before she bought lighter fluid, a lighter, and matches at a nearby gas station at around 4 a.m. August 4.

A review of the victim’s phone also showed eight missed calls from Russell along with text messages that read, “You wasted my money to come out here,” “U smoked,” “I see you wanna die,” and “I swear to god I hope you die,” according to NJ.com.

Russell allegedly set the fire outside the only doorway to the man’s home and then fled as the flames engulfed the home, according to the probable cause statement for her arrest.

The victim, who has not been publicly identified, awoke at 4:30 a.m. to find his front entrance ablaze, blocking the sole exit to his smoke-filled residence.

Despite the hurdle, the man managed to escape the fire by removing a window frame and climbing through its opening, police said.

The man, who was “covered head to toe in soot and ash,” ran to the nearest police station wearing nothing but a t-shirt to announce that his house was burning, according to the probable cause statement.

Firefighters then responded to the blaze and were able to save the man’s dog.

“The residence and its contents were completely destroyed,” says the probable cause statement, adding that the fire was ruled an arson.

Police say the victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and first and second-degree burns.

Russell is being held at the Salem County Correctional Center on multiple charges, including attempted murder, aggravated arson, endangering/creating a risk of death, and criminal mischief, NJ.com reported.

 So, because a guy fell asleep, she decided to murder him??  Now that's way too entitled.  Something seriously wrong with people, if they can think this way.  Sin nature in all of us, yes, but this is ridiculous.  No conscience, no concern for anothe human being at all; just ticked off because her own gratification was not possible?  How utterly depraved!  Gives a whole new meaning to safe sex, doesn't it?

I realize this happened some days ago, but I haven't had a chance to address it yet.  Seriously disturbing, this.  How many people connected to the Clintons have died from supposed suicide now?   This fellow was a vile sort to be sure, but he would have had a lot of information about who all visited his sick little island, o flew on his plane, to various places.  Now, he can't say anything to anyone.  Convenient, isn't it, for all who could have been arrested as a result of his testimony?  Plus, he should have been watched, and wasn't, so they claim.  Quite suspicious.

I worked with Donald Trump’s team before he announced for the presidency on opposing the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a policy decision which put me at odds with many of my conservative friends. But defending the United States of America against a trade deal which would eviscerate our national sovereignty was worth the cost.

Today I find myself in opposition to President Trump on a pair of foundational issues – the right to keep and bear arms and due process, which both are under attack through so-called red flag laws. The sad reality is that history demonstrates that these types of well-meaning laws are too easily abused.
I do not make this choice lightly. Recently after returning from a meeting at the White House, I had lunch with a friend. A fellow patron of the restaurant overheard that I had been in the meeting and heard me say favorable things about the president, after which this unknown person approached my table and started screaming invective at me. Even as his two young boys pleaded with and pulled on Dad trying to get him to leave, this self-proclaimed Georgetown Law grad continued his screaming rant as spittle flew from his foaming mouth. Along the way, he expressed the opinion that I and everyone like me should die, along with other lovely bits of wisdom.
Online and media crazies declaring all supporters of Donald Trump to be Nazis can be discounted as a legitimate threat to the safety of those of us who have historically supported the president, but when someone who ostensibly is well educated and part of the legal system completely loses it simply because of the existence of a Donald Trump supporter in his midst, that is a red flag.
Another red flag is the abuse of the FISA Court by politically motivated high-ranking FBI officials who launched a three year witch hunt of Donald Trump using “unverified and salacious” opposition research, with the help of a complicit media, in an attempt to initially influence and then overturn the results of the 2016 election. If the president of the United States is not safe from politically motivated abuse of the prosecutorial system, how can the average citizen trust that a law allowing legal “temporary” confiscation of firearms using “expedited due process” won’t be abused by every risk averse and politically motivated prosecutor in America?
Almost thirty years ago, when I was the state lobbyist for the National Rifle Association handling New Jersey, I saw and fought against law enforcement’s abuse of that state’s gun laws. I remember the woman in her twenties who was not allowed to purchase a handgun by local law enforcement for five years until she won a court decision — all because she made the mistake of calling a suicide hotline one time when she was 16 and her parents were going through a divorce. That single call was viewed as a red flag and an excuse to deny her a handgun permit.
And today, I see Democrat presidential candidate after Democrat presidential candidate promising to ban and confiscate guns. And I see President Donald Trump supporting a red flag law which will lay the groundwork for them to do it.
In a world where supporting Donald Trump is a red flag for the left, it is both politically and from a policy perspective disastrous for President Trump to support any red flag confiscation measure, no matter the purported “expedited due process” safeguard. In New York City, a MAGA hat wearing gallery owner was beaten for simply wearing the hat. In Miami, a black man wearing a MAGA hat at the Cheesecake Factory was surrounded and threatened by restaurant employees. Trump administration officials have repeatedly been harassed and denied service at restaurants, and Democratic officials have encouraged this behavior. The obvious truth is that the left has has so demonized anyone who supports Donald Trump that no legal ground can be ceded to give these loons of the left a lawful pathway to confiscate guns. No amount of due process protection will matter to those who believe that all Trump supporters are Nazis and hence all Trump supporters are evil and should be stripped of their rights.
Unfortunately, we don’t have to speculate about the inevitable outcome of red flag laws, as fifteen states have adopted them, including Maryland where I reside. Last November, in the county just north of my residence, police decided to execute a “red flag” warrant at 5:17 a.m., and the predictable result was that the subject of the warrant ended up dead from a police bullet. The dead gun owner was unavailable to contest the police version of the shooting.
Red flag laws are designed to confiscate a person’s legally held property under the presumption that they may misuse that property in the future. And given that the accusation itself is that the accused has the possibility of doing violence to themselves or others, even the most well-intentioned prosecutor and law enforcement agents will err on the side of denying the rights of the accused due to the fear that the accusation may prove correct – and failure to aggressively enforce the law will be devastating to their personal careers regardless of the credibility of the complaint. The accused is then required to prove that the accusation is wrong with those sitting in judgment facing enormous political pressure to leave confiscation orders in place, destroying the presumption of innocence. What’s more, in today’s Internet age, the accused forever will be tainted by the accusation regardless of outcome.
America witnessed this type of reputational assassination by accusation recently, and it is shocking that GOP politicians who witnessed the wild accusations levied against Justice Brett Kavanaugh are at all open to the idea that a federal gun confiscation law should be put in place that has at best only a fig leaf of due process protection.
And for this Trump supporter, the continuing push by this president in support of gun confiscation language serves as perhaps the biggest red flag of all.

Shooter Stopped By Armed Citizen!

Good Guy with Gun Stops Armed Man in Missouri Walmart

A good guy with a gun stopped a man carrying a rifle and 100 rounds of ammunition in a Springfield, Missouri, Walmart Thursday.

KY3 reports that Springfield Police “responded to a call of an active shooter at the Walmart: Neighborhood Market at Republic Rd.” They arrived to find the suspect wearing “body armor and military fatigues” and being held at gunpoint by an off-duty firefighter.

Police said the man was carrying weapons and 100 rounds of ammunition, and that he had entered the Walmart, grabbed a cart, and pushed it around the store. Police noted the suspect “was recording himself walking through the store via a cell phone.”

The suspect was detained by police.

Yet we have even the president demanding  "red flag" laws, so people like the one who stopped this potential shooter could be disarmed by a disgruntled neighbor.  Think about that.

UN Latest Climate Change Report: Saving Planet Will Require ‘Drastic Changes’ in Land Use, Human Diets

The United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a report on Thursday that calls for letting agricultural land return to the wilderness and for people to eat more plants and fewer animals.

The report reiterates the globalist organization’s claim that man’s use of natural resources to improve people’s lives around the world is making “global warming” worse and will make food more scarce, more expensive, and less nutritional.
“The cycle is accelerating,” NASA climate scientist Cynthia Rosenzweig, a co-author of the report, said in an Associated Press report. “The threat of climate change affecting people’s food on their dinner table is increasing.”
“But if people change the way they eat, grow food and manage forests, it could help save the planet from a far warmer future, scientists said,” AP wrote about the report, entitled “Climate Change and Land: an IPCC special report on climate change, desertification, land degradation, sustainable land management, food security, and greenhouse gas fluxes in terrestrial ecosystems.”
AP reported that the report was unanimously approved “by diplomats from nations around the world,” including the United States, and “proposed possible fixes and more dire warnings.”
“The stability of food supply is projected to decrease as the magnitude and frequency of extreme weather events that disrupt food chains increases,” the report said.
“Global crop and economic models project a median increase of 7.6 percent (range of 1 to 23 percent) in cereal prices in 2050 due to climate change, leading to higher food prices and increased risk of food insecurity and hunger,” the report said.
“If people change their diets, reducing red meat and increasing plant-based foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and seeds, the world can save as much as another 15 percent of current emissions by mid-century. It would also make people more healthy,” NASA’s Rosenzweig said in the AP report.
“We don’t want to tell people what to eat,” Hans-Otto Pörtner, an ecologist who co-chairs the IPCC’s working group on impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability, said in a Nature article on the report. “But it would indeed be beneficial, for both climate and human health, if people in many rich countries consumed less meat, and if politics would create appropriate incentives to that effect.”

So......they don't want people eating animals, and now, while claiming we are supposed to eat plants, they state we aren't to grow them??  How, exactly, is that supposed to work?  Eat more plants, but have less agriculture?  I guess we are to just chew on leaves, like apes?

Report: Donald Trump Will Use FCC, FTC to Fight Social Media Censorship

The White House is reportedly planning an executive order that would give the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) a role in determining what gets censored on big tech platforms.

According to CNN, which obtained a draft copy of the order, the White House will ask the FCC to develop regulations aimed at clarifying the laws determining how social media companies are allowed to police speech on their platforms. The existence of the draft order was first revealed by Politico earlier this week.

The draft executive order is currently titled “Protecting Americans from Online Censorship.”

"The draft order, a summary of which was obtained by CNN, calls for the FCC to develop new regulations clarifying how and when the law protects social media websites when they decide to remove or suppress content on their platforms. Although still in its early stages and subject to change, the Trump administration’s draft order also calls for the Federal Trade Commission to take those new policies into account when it investigates or files lawsuits against misbehaving companies.

"A White House spokesperson declined to comment on the draft order, but referred CNN to Trump’s remarks at a recent meeting with right-wing social media activists. During the meeting, Trump vowed to 'explore all regulatory and legislative solutions to protect free speech.'

"According to the summary seen by CNN, the draft executive order currently carries the title “Protecting Americans from Online Censorship.” It claims that the White House has received more than 15,000 anecdotal complaints of social media platforms censoring American political discourse, the summary indicates. The Trump administration, in the draft order, will offer to share the complaints it’s received with the FTC."

According to CNN’s report, the new FCC rules would change how Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act is implemented. Section 230 currently grants tech companies broad immunity to censor content they consider ” lewd, lascivious, filthy, excessively violent, harassing, or otherwise objectionable, whether or not such material is constitutionally protected.”
If CNN’s report is accurate, the FCC could limit the range of corporate censorship which is currently protected under the law.

Hello!  I am adding on a blog here, to try and be able to continue to share with people, since Disqus is closing down the channels.  With more than 9.400 followers there, it bothers me that the channels will be gone as of September, so I am looking for a way to engage people still.  Hopefully many of you will come over to a new location, and we can continue to talk about the issues, the news, the ideas, the beliefs, and the fun.  Will look forward to seeing you!
