Carman Has Left Us

On Tuesday, February 16, the world lost a wonderful man.  Carman, born Carmelo Domenic Licciardello, the Christian singer who holds the record for the largest Christian concert, passed on from surgical complications.  He also had cancer, which he'd battled since 2013.

For him, there is joy, as he is home with God, but for those still here, he will be missed.  No one else could give such a performance as Carman, and everything he sang, he believed.  He gave his life to sharing the love of Jesus to people, through his music and his talents.  He reached a lot of people, and shone a lot of light into this fallen world.

I was able to see him in concert twice, and on both occasions, you could feel the Spirit moving in the crowd.  The second time, along with my sister, I actually got to meet him briefly.  We were at Sea World of Texas.  The concert would be held at the huge US map area, so we decided to skip some of the crowd nd cut through a garden area, which ended up being the same area through which he was being moved to reach the concert.  When coming to where the small group of people was stopped, he stopped himself to greet us, and talk for a minute or two.  Very nice guy, as sincere as they come, no pretense, just what I'd expected.

At the concert, the crowd was definitely spirit-filled, and boisterous.  He was called back to the stage for an encore song, and we all knew which song we wanted to hear.  I am sure he planned it that way, being the talented performer he is.  We wanted The Champion, which hadn't yet been sung that day. He asked,we all shouted as one, and he pretended he couldn't hear us. They could have heard us halfway across town, lol!  Then he pantomimed boxer moves, and the crowd went wild.  Of course, he performed The Champion which was the perfect closer for the concert.

If you don't know the song, you should.  I located a live performance video, so you can have the full effect, as much as possible without being there.

No, it's not short, but it's worth the time.  If you don't understand the message, ask!  The days are getting shorter.
